LDF must be stopped in its tracks

REGARDING your story last week ‘LDF plans’ flaws will be exposed’ I would urge people to lodge their objections to this proposal behind the Three Nuns before the deadline of the end of October.

The area proposed for colossal industrial development is Mirfield and Hartshead’s equivalent of a country park. Can you imagine the uproar it would cause if it was Greenhead Park, or Bretton Park, or even Batley Park?

Not many people in the area have fully grasped the significance of what is being proposed by Kirklees Planners.

Mirfield, Roberttown and Hartshead would be completely swallowed up by Huddersfield and would lose their independent identity.

It would become one massive urban sprawl.

What is now beautiful countryside would horrifically be turned into colossal warehouses and industrial wasteland.

It is imperative that we make our voices heard before it is too late.

This is now our very last chance and it is not just our own future that is at stake, but that of future generations.

Without many objections, Kirklees planners will ‘steam-roller’ it through and replace our much treasured open countryside with a concrete jungle.

Protests after the end of October will most probably not be counted and the opportunity to have sentiments heard will be gone forever.

Anyone wanting to send a letter of objection outlining their concerns can find a model letter to download on the Keep Roberttown and Hartshead Rural website, www.roberttownvillage.org.uk.
