LETTER: Former pupils turn out in force for reunion

Former students of Batley's Princess Royal Girls School attended a get-together at Union Rooms last Saturday.

It was very successful with over 40 people turning up, some for the first time having read your article (May 11).

This included the lovely 89-year-old Alan Thomas who turned up to see us all and join us for a coffee.

He had interesting tales to tell and had the girls spellbound!

He was there when the school foundation stone was laid and he sang in a choir at the opening ceremony when the then Princess Royal

opened and renamed the school in 1938.

He was a proper gentleman and it was a great day.
