Congratulations to all concerned regarding the well being of Callum Irvine, who returned to school this month after being knocked down last year (Spenborough Guardian April 15).

From the first aider Steve, who initially probably saved his life, to the emergency services, the clinical expertise of Leeds General Infirmary and the tender loving care given by his mother Carly.

All these factors has helped turn a tragedy into a miracle.

As well as Callum’s progressing health, his wealth is also progressing. Donations have been received from around the world, Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia, New York and London.

There has also been a substantial amount of money from the good people of Cleckheaton.

Tim Spencer, landlord of the Station Tavern, went far beyond the call of duty in raising cash for Callum.

Thank you all from a devoted grandad.
