Walking to school could solve parking problems

I agree with the comments of the governors of the school about the appalling parking by parents.

I have had experience of the trouble for traffic on that road.

I would also highlight Spen Valley High School in Roberttown Lane. Parents park on both sides of this narrow road, leaving only a single lane for traffic passing through.

I feel very sorry for bus drivers, who can find themselves trapped against vehicles coming the other way. There is also a layby for the school buses, and this is often filled with cars despite the ‘no parking’ signs.

There seem to be two factors to this problem outside schools – one is the observation that these parents seem to think that road traffic signs don’t apply to them, and the second is that Spen Valley High and any other school, that both parents and children should do more walking to from school anyway.
