CLECKHEATON will be offering shoppers something special this year when it hosts its own Christmas market.
The Totally Locally Cleckheaton initiative is planning to hold a special festive market in the grounds of the George pub in Parkside, which will have a Victorian theme.
Local traders and people will be selling goods from 30 stalls with plans for plenty of Christmas items including gift ideas and food.
Stallholders will be dressed in Victorian costume, helping to create a traditional festive atmosphere for shoppers.
Matthew Crowther, from Matthew’s Coffee House, in Market Street, said he hoped the market would put Cleckheaton on the map.
He said: “This will give local shopkeepers a chance to show off their goods in a festive atmosphere.
“The market will also give other local people a chance to sell some of their home-made goods.”
Some of the locally-based businesses that have already signed up to have stalls at the market are Lilly Vanilla, Design 24 and Heaven at 7, with some of the 30 places still available.
The market will take place in the pub’s Mead Hall on Sunday December 9 from 11am-3pm.
