CLECKHEATON will be aiming to light up Moorend tomorrow when they entertain Keighley in their final home North East One game of 2012.

League games usually kick-off at 2.15pm between November and March but tomorrow’s clash against Keighley has been put back to 3pm as Cleckheaton are staging one of their popular pre-match lunches and the floodlights will be on from the start.

The Moorenders saw their five-match winning run come to and end on November 24 when they suffered a surprise 23-12 defeat away to bogey side Northern.

Defeat saw Dave Harrison’s men slip to sixth in the table but they will look to bounce back against Keighley before signing off the year with a trip to high flying Sheffield on December 15.

Over 100 supporters are attending tomorrow’s lunch and although Cleck have a keen eye on the weather forecast, the pre-match hospitality will go ahead even if the match is called off.

The Moorenders have won seven out of their 12 games this term as the North East One campaign reaches halfway tomorrow and that form has owed much to impressive displays from fly-half Iain Gordon and back row man Richard Piper.

Gordon has landed 18 conversions, 12 penalties and two drop-goal for a points haul of 78, while Piper is on course to score 20 league tries for a second successive season having already crossed 10 times this term.

Cleckheaton Kestrels continue to show great form and are very much in the hunt to win the Yorkshire RFU Championship and with the first team not in action last week, they took centre stage by recording an impressive 54-7 win over West Park.

Ross Hayden has worked his way up through the ranks at Moorend to become a first team regular but he dropped back into the Kestrels last week and scored a try and kicked seven goals.

Jack Seddon and Josh White are among the next crop of promising youngsters making massive progress at Cleckheaton and both are being tipped as first teamers.

Seddon was also among the Kestrels try scorers last weekend, while White gained rave reviews for his display against West Park.
