Cleckheaton will target a first win of the season when they welcome early pace setters Sheffield Tigers to Moorend tomorrow (kick off 3pm).

Cleckheaton followed up an opening day defeat to Firwood Waterloo by going down 41-17 at Huddersfield YMCA last week, despite making a promising start at Laund Hill.

There have been encouraging signs for new coaching duo Scott Benton and Gordon Piper in both opening matches and Cleckheaton will look to improve further against a Sheffield side who have won both their first two matches.

Richard Piper bagged a brace of tries at YMCA, both coming from Cleckheaton’s favoured set move of a catch and drive line-out.

Cleckheaton, as a club, continues to thrive and although the Kestrels do not have a fixture tomorrow, 60 players will turn out for the Moorenders and that interest can only continue to grow on the dawn of the World Cup.
