EAST Bierley take on Alfreton on Sunday, aiming to reach the ECB National Cup Group Two quarter-finals.

Bierley defeated Hanging Heaton in the first round, while Derbyshire Premier Division side Alfreton overcame Wickersley Old Village.

Bierley will look for a similar display from Gavin Hamilton, who hit a brilliant century in their win over Heaton.

Victory sets up a home group semi-final against Chesterfield or Central Yorkshire League side Townville.

Bierley return to Bennett Lane tomorrow (Saturday) in Bradford League Division One and the sides will clash again on Tuesday night in the Twenty20 Cup.

Cleckheaton received a boost when their two opening bowlers Iain Wardlaw (1-24) and Jimmy Lee (3-28) helped Yorkshire seconds to a 62 run victory over Warwickshire seconds on Tuesday.

Cleckheaton are bottom of Division One with just one win from their opening five matches and they travel to leaders Bradford & Bingley tomorrow.

Gomersal welcome second-bottom Manningham Mills to Oxford Road, while Woodlands, who have climbed to seventh after a recent run of form, entertain inconsistent Baildon.

Hartshead Moor welcome Division Two leaders Lightcliffe to Highmoor Lane.

Much could depend on the availability of former Yorkshire batsman Chris Taylor, who struck a fine century against promotion rivals Saltaire last Saturday.

Spen Victoria will be looking to improve on their seventh place at Brighouse.

Liversedge will go into tomorrow’s Central Yorkshire League Division One clash at home to bottom club East Leeds full of confidence after taking a maximum points from four matches.

Sedge edged a thrilling clash at Batley last week when Will Atkin and Tom Smith put on 18 runs for the final wicket to edge them home and they are just a point behind leaders Carlton with a game in hand.

With three wins and a tie from their opening games, Scholes are handily placed in Division Two ahead of tomorrow’s home game against second placed Altofts A.
