Hanging Heaton captain Gary Fellows struck 170 in his sides Priestley Cup second round win over Townville last Sunday.

Gary Fellows struck a magnificent 170 as Hanging Heaton progressed to the Priestley Cup quarter-finals in bizarre fashion against Townville last Sunday.

Fellows’ superb knock helped Hanging Heaton post 310-5 in their 50 overs before Townville recovered from 89-5 to reach 232-6 off 37.5 overs when rain halted proceedings.

The calculators came out to determine the outcome with Hanging Heaton having an overall run rate of 6.2 runs per over to Townville’s 5.89, which was calculated on their score after the last completed over of their reply.

Fellows struck four sixes and 22 fours on his way to a 12th century for the club, while he passed 850 club runs for the season in the process.

Richard Foster (51) shared a second-wicket stand of 116 with his captain.

Townville’s brilliant recovery was led by Connor Harvey and captain Nick Bresnan, playing against his old club, as they put on 123 for the sixth wicket off just 77 balls.

Bresnan was finally out for 52, while Harvey finished unbeaten on 87 but what was building towards a thrilling finale was curtailed by heavy rain.

Bradford and Bingley defeated Methley by 88 runs, while Baildon are also through to the last eight after beating Carlton on a faster scoring rate.

The remaining five ties will be replayed this Sunday after being disrupted by the wet weather.

Chris Rhodes (3-20) helped restrict Undercliffe to 169-9 in 27 overs before Gomersal reached 16-0 in three overs when play was abandoned.

Yeadon reached 248-5 in 43 overs against Scholes, with James Goldthorp (72) and Max McIver (50) sharing a third-wicket stand of 100.

Captain James Stansfield took 4-57 before play was abandoned.

Just one over was possible in the all-Premier Division clash between Woodlands and Cleckheaton while there was no play at all in the tie between Lightcliffe and Batley.

Wrenthorpe made 73-2 off 16 overs when the tie at Pudsey St Lawrence was halted.
