Hall Road Rangers 2

Liversedge 5

LIVERSEDGE enjoyed an away day at Hull side Hall Road Rangers in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

It was the Clayborners’ second successive league win and gave the front line strike force of Dave Bordman, Nathan Cartman and Alex Hallam a deserved reward.

Recent midfield signing Paddy McGuire also made his mark with some telling runs and accurate passes. Jake Lawlor impressed with some creative midfield play.

Liversedge’s top scorer Nathan Cartman, who started the day on 13 league goals, added to his tally with a seventh minute opener, coolly finishing Damian Hopkins’ break and pass.

It set the tone for Liversedge to keep up the pressure with some fine attacking moves.

Some 10 minutes later Cartman doubled the lead with his 15th goal of the season as he held onto the ball and teased the defenders, they hesitated and Cartman nipped in to score.

On the stroke of half-time Liversedge took a 3-0 lead when Hallam created a good position.

In a well-worked move in the area McGuire stepped over the ball leaving it for Bordman to score in some style.

After the break the home side came back at Liversedge and on 50 minutes they pulled one back through Adam Cooper, who launched a cross-cum shot that flew into the top corner of the net, giving goalkeeper Danny Knight no chance to save.

Liversedge took charge again and on 69 minutes Bordman and Cartman combined to set up Hallam, who made no mistake with a good finish to give Liversedge a 4-1 lead.

The home side took another chance when with three minutes remaining Joe Cooper won the ball and put the ball past Knight.

In the second minute of added time Liversedge underlined their dominance when Cartman sneaked in a pass for Bordman to score and seal a fine victory.
