Gary Sykes boxing fans have been snapping up tickets to watch the English super featherweight champion defend his title on the Amir Khan bill in Sheffield next week.

Sykes will meet Manchester’s Jonny Kays at the Motorpoint Arena but with Khan topping the bill in what could be his last fight on British soil and a packed undercard, which includes heavyweight Audley Harrison and the debut of Olympic bronze medal winner Anthony Ogogo, tickets have been selling fast.

Sykes sold his initial allocation of £50 tickets and a second batch are also spoken for, although the Dewsbury star still has a limited number of £75 tickets available from the Central Boxing Club in Batley.

Sykes won the English title by beating Grimsby’s Kevin Hooper in Cleethorpes last month but the 29-year-old from Dewsbury Moor has his eyes firmly set on recapturing the British title and winning the Lonsdale belt outright,

Top of the bill next Saturday is Khan’s eagerly awaited international bout with Julio Diaz.

Tickets for Khan v Diaz and Sykes v Kays can also be purchased from www.motorpointarenasheffield.co.uk or by calling 0114 256 5656.

The huge show is also to be screened live on specialist boxing channel Box Nation,
