EAST Bierley captain Lee Goddard produced a sensational innings to guide his side into the group quarter-finals of the ECB National Cup with victory over Alfreton last Sunday.
Goddard struck 128 off just 96 balls in an innings which included 10 fours and nine sixes as Bierley sucessfully chased down Alfreton’s 266-7 with seven overs to spare.
Andrew Rennison (37) and Thomas Owens (38) supported Goddard as Bierley completed a five-wicket win.
Paul Hutchison and Kez Ahmed had earlier claimed two wickets each as Alfreton posted 266-7 from their 45 overs, led by captain Alexander Mace (97) and opener Graham Bush (50).
Bierley will entertain Chesterfield or Central Yorkshire League outfit Townville in the group semi-finals on or before Sunday June 19 and victory would set up a regional final, also at South View Road.
