Cleckheaton start at Congs

CLECKHEATON CC face a tough start to Bradford League Division One with a trip to Pudsey Congs on the opening day of next season, Saturday April 17 (start 1pm).

Hanging Heaton will start life in Division Two at Lightcliffe.

Heaton will be captained by John Carruthers, who is also the new cricket chairman, as they line-up against a Lightcliffe side that includes former Yorkshire and Morley opening batsman Chris Taylor.

Morley start their campaign at Idle while Hartshead Moor face a tough test at Keighley and Spen Victoria entertain Brighouse.

Woodlands begin their Division One season at home to promoted Bankfoot, Gomersal entertain Saltaire, while Priestley Cup holders East Bierley visit Yeadon.

Opening day fixtures - Saturday April 17 (1pm)

Div 1: Bradford & Bingley v Pudsey St Lawrence, Gomersal v Saltaire, Pudsey Congs v Cleckheaton, Undercliffe v Baildon, Woodlands v Bankfoot, Yeadon v East Bierley. Free: Farsley.

Div 2: Bowling Old Lane v Windhill, Great Horton v Manningham Mills, Idle v Morley, Keighley v Hartshead Moor, Lightcliffe v Hanging Heaton, Spen Victoria v Brighouse.

Second teams Div 1: Baildon v Bowling Old Lane, Cleckheaton v Pudsey Congs, East Bierley v Farsley, Hanging Heaton v Yeadon, Morley v Lightcliffe, Pudsey St Lawrence v Bradford & Bingley. Free: Woodlands.
