Duo fly flag in HW Cup - Bierley meet leaders
GOMERSAL and Woodlands are flying the local flag in the Heavy Woollen Cup second round on Sunday (start 1pm).
Having dumped Bradford League champions and HW finalists Baildon out in the first round, Gomersal make the trip to Shepley aiming to reach the last eight.
Gomersal have produced some of their best cricket to date in the cup competitions and they were awaiting last night's second round draw for the Priestley Cup.
Woodlands also face a tricky Heavy Woollen clash when they travel to Hanging Heaton, who have won their opening three games in Division Two as they aim to make a quick return to the top flight.
The duo also face keen Bradford League first division games tomorrow (1.30pm) as Gomersal welcome Pudsey Congs to Oxford Road, while Woodlands will be aiming to build on an encouraging start to the season against Baildon.
East Bierley face a huge game, even at this early stage of the campaign, as they travel to early pace setters Pudsey St Lawrence, who have won their opening three matches.
Bierley were involved in a thrilling tie with Pudsey Congs last week and the early indications are that this could be one of the closest title races in recent years with five clubs in with a realistic shout this time.
Cleckheaton, who earned a double success last weekend, when they defeated Bankfoot in the league and Spen Victoria in the Priestley Cup, will be looking to build on those results at home to Saltaire.
Hartshead Moor will be aiming to inflict a first defeat of the season on local rivals Brighouse, who make the short trip to Highmoor Lane in Division Two.
Moor picked up a second win of the campaign when they overcame Morley last week and another success tomorrow would place them firmly in the top half of the table.
Spen Victoria have a good chance to gain a first win of the campaign when they travel to Great Horton.
Liversedge will be looking to build on last week's derby victory over Birstall when they travel to Northowram Fields in the Central Yorkshire League Premier Division tomorrow (1pm), while Scholes have the chance to climb into the top two in Division One if they can earn victory at Woodkirk.
