Farnley send holders Woodlands out of cup

Logan Weston (38) and Elliot Richardson (35no) made useful contributions in the Woodlands total of 200-9, which saw Mark Lawson claim 3-28.

Moorlands booked their place in the last eight with a 196-run victory over Birstall.

Naveed Zamurad made 88 and Oliver Rounding (49) to help Moorlands post 253 before dismissing Birstall for just 57.

Morley are also through after a four-wicket win over Yeadon.

Oliver Halliday (69) and Jake Wray (49) helped Yeadon to 228 but Morley captain Matt Baxter led the reply with an unbeaten 64.

Colin Nuthall (39) and James McNichol (38) supported to help Morley progress.

Ossett were unable to defend a total of 208-8 as Yorkshire Premier League South side Treeton eased to an eight-wicket win.

Richard Whitehurst (40) and Raheel Ahmed (40) were Ossett’s main contributors but it wasn’t enough as Scott Cunningham (78no) and Gareth Davis (60) led Treeton’s successful run chase.

Hopton Mills cruised to a 278-run win over Townville, whose talented young batsman Jack Hughes made a magnificent 163 in his side’s 358-7.

Ian Jones (4-6) and Hughes (3-5) helped dismiss Mills for 80 to wrap up the win.

Last year’s beaten finalists Hoylandswaine ended Methley’s interest in the competition as they recorded a 114-run win, while Huddersfield League champions Scholes recorded a seven-wicket win against Whitley Hall.

Delph and Dobcross defeated Hanging Heaton in a 15-over-a-side first round tie the previous Wednesday evening but are yet to play their second round clash against Wrenthorpe.

Heaton, making the 68-mile round-trip for a third time, posted 154-4 with Gary Fellows (46) top scoring.

Greg Buckley hit a brilliant 95 not out in reply as Delph won with four balls to spare.

Crowther Cup holders Woodlands also bowed out last Sunday, losing to Morley by six wickets.

Bradford League Scholes dismissed Hopton Mills for 63 on their way to a 10-wicket win, East Bierley are safely through after a 127-run victory over Gomersal in a game which saw veteran Murphy Walwyn hit a half-century.

John Carruthers took 5-18 as Hanging Heaton dismissed Townville for 128 on their way to a seven-wicket win.

Chris Hosley smashed 120 as Ossett posted 321-7 in a 151-run win over Hoylandswaine.

Huddersfield Scholes and New Farnley make up the quarter-finalists.
