Gomersal continue winning form in Division One
GOMERSAL'S good form has seen them climb up to sixth place in the Bradford League Division One after they defeated bottom team Hanging Heaton by 55 runs and picked up a maximum 20 points.
Overseas player Shahzaib Khan took 6-60 as Heaton were dismissed for 172 in reply to Gomersal's 227-5 that was built on the contributions of Gulsheraz Ahmed (83) and Richard Gould (81).
Defeat leaves Heaton 18 points behind second-bottom Manningham and a further eight adrift of Cleckheaton, who were not in action last week.
Woodlands were given a huge scare before overcoming Saltaire to pick up their fourth win of the season.
Woodlands' brittle batting crumbled again as they were dismissed for 138 with Yassir Abbas (4-44) the pick of the bowlers.
Saltaire's delight at dismissing the champions was soon tempered as Pieter Swanepoel (5-21) and Safraz Ahmed (3-24) ripped through their batting and the visitors were dismissed for 71.East Bierley moved up to second place with a five-wicket victory over Manningham Mills last Saturday.
Manningham recovered from 10-3 to post a challenging 202-9 thanks to Muenoddin Kadri's 63. Mohammad Azhar-Ullah continued his good form by taking 4-58.
Bierley were guided to their victory target by Andrew Rennison, who hit a six and 11 fours in an unbeaten 92, while Lee Goddard supported with 47.
Bradford & Bingley took over at the top after defeating previous leaders Baildon.
In Division Two Hartshead Moor returned from their short trip to Lightcliffe with a 58-run success.
All-rounder Jonathan Gould made an unbeaten 57 and took 4-15.
Gould's half-century helped Hartshead post 200 before dismissing Lightcliffe for 142. Once captain Richard Nichols (61) departed the innings disintegrated as spinners Gould and Craig Woodhead (4-44) went to work.
Spen Victoria slipped to a five-wicket defeat to promotion chasing Bowling Old Lane.
Abid Alishan (54no) and captain Amjid Khan (45no) steered Old Lane past a disappointing Spen score of 161 which owed much to a knock of 49 from veteran Maz Bhatti.
Mubtada Akthar (3-38) and Zubair Najeeb (3-26) were the main wicket takers.

Heaton are a point behind Yeadon who lost at leaders Pudsey St Lawrence.
Heaton dismissed Bowling Old Lane for just 95.
James Byrne (3-9) and Umar Rehman (3-12) were the pick of the Heaton bowlers.
Heaton lost five wickets in reply but Nabeel Hafeez (27) steadied the ship as the visitors reached their target in the 23rd over.
Woodlands returned to winning ways with a 91-run victory at Baildon. Phil Higgins top scored with 96 as Woodlands reached 207-6. Scott Osbourne (39) supported.
Higgins then led the Woodlands bowling with 5-30 as Baildon were dismissed for 116.
Champions East Bierley had Chris Brook to thank for their 19-run win at Morley.
James Petty top scored with 52 in Bierley's total of 197-9, while Gareth Roberts (4-45) was Morley's best bowler.
Ash Daley hit 46 as Morley threatened to win it before Brook turned the game with 4-46 as the home side were dismissed for 178.
There just no stopping Spen Victoria's Adam Brown. The opener hit his third century of the season as his side crushed Bankfoot by 135 runs to move into second place in second teams Division Two.
Brown made an aggressive 109 which included 13 fours and eight sixes and came off 88 balls. Support came from George Deegan (51) and Leigh Manton (32no) as Spen posted 225 all out.
Brown then claimed 4-24 to help dismiss the home side for 90. Spen now trail leaders Bradford and Bingley by just four points.
Bingley defeated Gomersal by 32 runs to pick up 17 points.
Although Matthew Hirst claimed 3-31 and Chris Rhodes and Liam Grant supported with two wickets apiece, Bingley posted 168-9 thanks largely to captain Peter Clarke (68).
Zahir Hussain (38) was Gomersal's top scorer but they were bowled out for 136 as Michael Clarke (3-32), Adam Swallow (3-36) and Danny Trowers (3-51) impressed.
Hartshead Moor earned a fifth win of the season, defeating Idle by four runs.
Joel Barnett smashed 71 and with support from Trent Otto (38) it helped Moor reach 184 all out.
Andy Halford took 5-52 in reply and although opener Steve Marsden (61) and Andy Parratt (49) threatened to win it for Idle their last seven wickets fell for just 38 runs as Hartshead snatched victory.
