Kestrels earn thrilling victory

CLECKHEATON Kestrels turned around a 15-point deficit to earn a 26-20 win at home to Hull Ionians.

A Hull forward sustained a neck injury and was taken to hospital but was later released.

The injury meant a 30-minute delay after which the Kestrels battled to victory in a reduced second period

Jarrad Toulson led the charge with two tries and was supported by a try for Chris Piper.

Mike Piper added three valuable conversions and, late in the game, Cleckheaton trailed 20-19.

However, Anthony Dyson wriggled over to secure the winning try for the Kestrels.

Substitutes Bashforth, Emmitt and Nattress all made valuable contributions.
