Regan aims to extend fine run

LIVERSEDGE will be looking to extend their impressive recent run when they entertain Dinnington Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division tomorrow (kick off 3pm).

The Clayborners go into the game on the back of three straight victories, during which time they have scored 11 goals, and a fourth success against 12th-placed Dinnington Town would signal their best run of the campaign.

Jamie Wasley continued his impressive scoring record as he bagged another brace in last Saturday’s 4-0 win at Shirebrook Town and he has now scored 12 in 12 games for Sean Regan’s side.

New signing Ben Hardy was on target for the second game running as Liversedge consolidated their seventh place in the Premier Division.

Regan has been delighted with the way his side have acquitted themselves since returning from a lengthy lay-off due to the weather.

Regan said: “We have had an up and down few months but since we have returned from the break, we have started to find our feet.

“Jamie Wasley is a confident kid and he is looking like scoring all the time.

“The standard we are playing is a lot quicker to Sunday League but the way he took his two goals last Saturday shows the type of quality player we have at Liversedge.

“We have a strong squad and there is no reason why we can’t get another positive result if we perform the way we have done.

“I can’t ask for any more from my players and we hope this good run continues.”

Liversedge were due to travel to Pickering next Tuesday but that game has been switched to April 27 as Town are playing Middlesbrough in a county cup tie.

Liversedge Under-19s are facing a fixture backlog after their midweek Northern Alliance League derby with Farsley Celtic was postponed.

The Under-19s travel to Bradford Park Avenue on Monday, then entertain Brighouse next Thursday before travelling to Fields the following Wednesday (March 10).
