Savile Town hold slender lead over Section A rivals

Savile Town are a point clear of Friends Eleven and Kismat at the top of Dewsbury District League Section A.

Savile Town beat Scout Hill by six wickets last Sunday, while Friends scraped a one-wicket win over Al Murad.

Khuram Shazad (57) top scored for Scout Hill but they were dismissed for 149 as Javed Iqbal (3-25) and Waheed Ahmed (3-41) did most of the damage.

Savile Town had an impressive unbroken fifth wicket stand to thank for their win as Zahid Shah finished 75 not out and Munawar Chariwada (31no).

Friends Eleven stay in touch but were made to work hard for victory after Al Murad posted 163-9.

Mohammed Data struck 52 not out and Mohammed Abovat (29) in the face of an impressive spell of bowling from Zubair Patel, who finished with 5-18.

Data followed up his efforts with the bat by claiming 3-20 but Zubair Patel capped a fine individual performance by making 49.

Ghulam Hussain earlier picked up 2-23 and then made a crucial 26 as Friends edged home at 164-9.

Kismat dismissed Gujarkhan Star for 111 and went on to seal a six-wicket win to move level on points with Friends and just one behind Savile Town.

Dewsbury overcame second-bottom Dewsbury United by four wickets.

United were led to 166-8 by Bilal Ahmed (79), while Zaffar Iqbal claimed 3-26.

Rizwan Dar (44) and Zahour (41) helped Dewsbury to their victory target despite Arshad Mahmood impressing with 3-46.

New Sanam moved up to fourth place after posting 205 all out and then dismissing PKWA for 201 to win by four runs.

Azad remain 12 points clear at the top of Section B after a seven-wicket win over Kashmir.

It was Azad’s seventh straight win as their march towards the title continued.

Saad Hasmi top scored with 45 for Kashmir but they were bowled out fotr 172, with Saqib Hussain claiming 3-22.

Mirza Imran smashed 78 not out in reply as Azad eased home to 173-3.

Dewsbury Elite defeated KK by 32 runs.

Wasim Akhtar (47) top scored in Elite’s total of 194-7 before Razeb Raja claimed 3-21 as KK were dismissed for 162.

Driftwood conceded their game against Shaheen.
