Moorenders celebrate season ahead of tour

CLECKHEATON’S annual club dinner was held last Friday. The evening was a great success and the following awards were presented:

Donald Ross Trophy for Clubman of the Year: Bob Wilson.

Gomersal Trophy for Most Improved Player: Ollie Depledge.

1st XV Players Player: Richard Piper.

Kestrels Players Player: Chris Piper.

A plaque commemorating the Kestrels success winning the Yorkshire Division Two Merit League was also given to the second team, while a framed photo and pen were presented to Colin Thompson who has stepped down as Fourth XV manager after a number of years.

With the season finally over Cleckheaton’s attention now turns to their annual tour, which this year is to Krakow in Poland.

A touring party of 30 players and club men set off for Krakow early yesterday morning where they will play Juvenia RFC tomorrow afternoon.

The touring side contains a mixture of players from all the senior sides.
