Drighlington RLFC player Adam Newton’s fine individual display was not enough to save Great Britain Police from a 56-18 loss to Australia in the opening game of the Police World Cup.

Skipper Newton put the host nation onto the scoreboard first with a penalty but the Australians went on to dominate the match at the Tetley’s Stadium, Dewsbury.
