Cleckheaton Rugby Club have appointed Rob Afoa Peterson as their new player-coach to assist Ian Armitage.

Paterson brings a wealth of experience with him to Moorend, having played with Halifax during their time in what is now National League One.

Paterson also had a spell with French side Cergy-Pontoise and has been at Otley for the last few seasons.

The 33-year-old lives near Gomersal and is looking forward to joining up with his local team for what will be his first coaching post.

These are certainly exciting times at Cleckheaton, having appointed Armitage to take over from Dave Harrison as head coach in May.
