Scholes secured an important derby success over Spen Victoria as they extended their lead over promotion rivals Baildon in JCT600 Bradford League Division Two.

Scholes are now 22 points clear of third placed Baildon and although they have played a game more, the New Popplewell Lane side have a little breathing space.

Scholes skittled Spen Victoria out for just 70 in just 28.4 overs as paceman Yasir Ali roved too hot to handle as he claimed 7-26, with Oliver Davison (30) the only Spen batsman to make an impact.

It took Scholes just 11 overs to race to their target with Toby Thorpe (35no) and Kasir Maroof (32) completing the rout.

Morley extended their lead over Scholes to nine points with a comprehensive 223-run victory over Brighouse.

Captain Matthew Baxter (108no) and overseas player Kashif Naveed (100no) shared an unbroken 178-run stand as Morley posted 329-3 before dismissing Brighouse for 106 with Matthew Dowse (5-37) and Nathan Bromby (3-35) impressing.

Baildon lost ground on second placed Scholes after suffering an agonising 12-run defeat in a high scoring game against Bowling Old Lane.

Hartshead Moor secured a fourth win of the season as they moved 21 points clear of the bottom two with a comfortable eight-wicket success over Bankfoot.

Danny Squire claimed 6-27 as Bankfoot were sent tumbling to 77 all out.

Richard Ferry (33) and Fahad Ul-Haq (26no) steered Moor to victory with minimum fuss in a game which lasted less than 46 overs.
