Sedge ready for high-fliers in tasty derby

LIVERSEDGE are gearing up to welcome Northern Counties East League Premier Division high-fliers Brighouse Town to Clayborn tomorrow for what should be a lively derby (kick off 3pm).

Having gone through a sticky spell which saw them draw five and lose one out of six league matches, Eric Gilchrist’s side have turned things around by recording back-to-back victories.

They were made to work hard before overcoming Winterton Rangers in a drab encounter last week but tomorrow’s clash should provide far more entertainment against a Brighouse side who moved second thanks to Tuesday’s 3-1 victory at home to Barton Town Old Boys.

Liversedge may have their work cut out as Brighouse are in terrific form and reached the third round of the FA Vase thanks to a 3-1 extra time win over Staveley last Saturday but Gilchrist is sure to have his Clayborners fired up.

Andy Howard could be in line for a first home start having joined from Eccleshill United and made an impressive debut at Winterton.
