Spen Victoria face a crucial double weekend in their quest to maintain a promotion charge in JCT600 Bradford League Division Two.
Spen will look to become the latest team to cash in on the misfortunes of Great Horton as they entertain the division’s bottom club tomorrow before travelling to Undercliffe on Sunday.
Spen lie second, eight points behind leaders and pre-season promotion favourites Farsley, as the second division campaign reaches the halfway point tomorrow.
Farsley face a tricky trip to Hartshead Moor tomorrow, when Spen will be looking to rack up the bonus points against a Great Horton side who are yet to register a win and have been on the end of some heavy defeats.
With the weather set fair for the weekend, Spen will hope to win the toss and bat first to give themselves the best chance of picking up maximum points.
Rob Burton has been among Spen’s leading lights and the experienced all-rounder bagged a six wicket haul in last week’s victory over Windhill.
Hartshead will look to dent Farsley’s hopes at Highmoor Lane before travelling to Bankfoot on Sunday, while Gomersal face away games at Bankfoot and another of Spen’s promotion challengers New Farnley.
Cleckheaton have thrown the Division One promotion race wide open with victory over Woodlands last week.
Cleck will aim to build on that win and continue their good run with a tough trip to Pudsey Congs, when they come up against former player Edward Walmsley, who was in terrific form, collecting 7-29 in their impressive win at Hanging Heaton.
East Bierley also face a tough game when they welcome Pudsey St Lawrence to South View Road.
