CLECKHEATON missed out on the chance to progress to the Yorkshire Cup Final after a 15-11 defeat by Hull at Moorend on Wednesday night.
A large crowd enjoyed a thrilling contest as Cleckheaton often matched a side who are two divisions above them in the league structure, they even went close to pulling off an upset.
Their performance on Wednesday provided an excellent finale to the season and will suggest Cleckheaton can use it as a springboard to launch a promotion push in North East One next season under hard-working coach Dave Harrison.
The semi-final was also attended by Yorkshire RU officials who cannot have failed to be impressed with Cleckheaton’s warm hospitality and their organisation of the semi-final.
Cleckheaton can be proud that it is the second time in as many seasons they have reached the semi-final and will look to improve on it next year.
