LIVERSEDGE face two of their toughest tests in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, at new boys Barton tomorrow, (Saturday) before a Bank Holiday Monday derby against Thackley, both kick-off at 3pm.
It’s a prospect that excites manager Billy Miller who said: “I think Barton will be one of the hardest games we will play this season, but it will be good to see how far we have come.”
Barton travelled to the East Coast to beat the much fancied Bridlington Town 3-2 in an FA Cup replay in midweek to demonstrate their threat.
Liversedge were big FA Cup winners 4-1 at Selby in a match they dominated to earn a home game against Pickering Town next Saturday (September 3).
“Then it’s the big one on Monday,” explained Miller. “Thackley is always the one everyone here wants to win, to get the local bragging rights. This time it is a bit spicy as there are a lot of people who have gone between the clubs.”
Thackley are currently unbeaten at the top of the table with two wins and a draw.
