Cleckheaton and Scotland opening bowler Iain Wardlaw is gearing up for one of the most exciting weeks of his cricketing career.
Wardlaw will travel home from a training camp in Scotland to figure in Cleckheaton’s JCT600 Bradford League Division One clash at Pudsey St Lawrence tomorrow.
He will return north to take his place in the Scotland squad who meet a Durham XI in three one day games before next Friday’s huge one day international showdown between Scotland and England in Aberdeen.
Wardlaw claimed 3-27 in Scotland’s game against the MCC at Lord’s last week but will swap his Saltires shirt for that of the Moorenders this weekend.
The trip to Tofts Road promises to be another test for champions Cleckheaton against a St Lawrence side who have won both their opening games, before eyes turn to the Priestley Cup on Sunday when Cleckheaton host Brighouse.
Woodlands, who were involved in a thrilling tie at Cleckheaton last week, entertain a Lightcliffe side who have won one and lost one of their opening games tomorrow before entertaining second division Spen Victoria in the cup.
East Bierley will seek to avoid a hat-trick of league defeats when Pudsey Congs visit South View Road tomorrow before they make the short trip to Gomersal in the cup.
Gomersal have lost both their games in Division Two and warm-up for the visit of Bierley with a home game against Great Horton.
Spen Victoria sat out of last week’s action but return with a trip to an Undercliffe side who have won both their opening games.
Hartshead Moor seek a third straight league win when Idle are the visitors before travelling to fellow unbeaten side Saltaire in the cup.
