Woodlands beat champions to maintain unbeaten start

Adam Waite led the St Lawrence innings with a determined knock of 88, while support came from Barrie Frankland (40) and Chris Marsden (34no).

Woodlands captain Tim Jackson then led from the front as he hit a second league century of the season and he is now the Premier Division’s leading run scorer with 328 from four games.

Jackson struck 112 not out, which included two sixes and 11 fours, as his side reached their target in the 46th over to move above Lawrence in the table.

Jackson was joined in a fourth-wicket stand of 107 by Alex Atkinson (45), while Lawson made an unbeaten 37 to steer Woodlands to a fourth straight win.

East Bierley were unable to halt Farsley’s unbeaten start to the season as they also recorded a fourth win of the campaign and are the new leaders.

Bierley appeared to have Farsley in trouble after Amar Rashid (5-58) picked up his second five-wicket haul of the season, with support from Shaaiq Choudhary (3-42) as Farsley lost their last five wickets for 29 runs and were restricted to 179 all out.

Opener James Pickles (56) was the only Farsley batsman to look at ease against the spin of Rashid and Choudhary and once he was out, the home side’s innings fell away.

Bierley opener Fahid Rehman led the reply with a top score of 34 but they also found the going tricky against the spinners.

Yorkshire second team left-arm slow bowler James Logan sparked Bierley’s collapse as he claimed 5-21 and the visitors lost eight wickets for 49 runs.

Adam Ahmed supported with 3-36 as Bierley were dismissed for 126 and they slip to ninth in the table.
