MOVIE NIGHT New Picture House Cinema in Dewsbury.

An independent cinema’s winter season continues this weekend with a screening of No.

The New Picture House in Dewsbury will show the Oscar-nominated Chilean film on Friday evening.

The 15-rated film, starring Gael García Bernal, charts the political campaigns before a 1988 national vote on whether General Augusto Pinochet should stay in power.

New Picture House co-director Andy Carlos said: “We are thrilled to be able to bring people this film – especially on Oscar night. The film is currently on release in the UK, and it’s thanks to our friends at the British Federation of Film Societies that we’re able to show it.”

The season continues with True Grit (15) on March 8, Berberian Sound Studio (15) on March 22 and a members’ choice on Sunday March 24.

Tickets are £4 (conc. £3) from.newpicturehouse.com or the cinema in Yorkshire House, South Street, on film nights. Films start at 7.30pm.
