Dewsbury Arts Group is offering audiences a unique experience with the first production of its 2013/14 theatre season.
For the first time in its 51 year history, the group will perform a play in the round.
The theatre at Dewsbury Artspace has been specially redesigned for performances of Woman In Mind, during which the audience will encircle the stage.
The Alan Ayckbourn play follows Susan, a neglected housewife who starts to confuse fantasy and reality after banging her head on a rake in the garden.
The handsome husband and loving daughter of her dream world seem far more appealing that her moralistic husband and moody son, but it’s not long before the dream becomes a nightmare.
The season continues in November with Red Riding Hood and Robin, a reworking of the well-known story of the little girl taking goodies to her sick grandma.
The espionage drama Pack of Lies, which starred Judi Dench and Michael Williams when it first opened in the West End, will be performed over seven nights in January.
Other productions planned include a double bill of Purgatorio and Night’s Candlers, the Philip King comedy See How They Run and musical City Of Angels.
l Woman in Mind is at the Artspace until Saturday October 5. Ring 01924 465647 for tickets.
