Laura is a student of Performing Arts at Huddersfield New College and a member of the Stuart Stage School in Heckmondwike.

She has played many parts including Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz with Dewsbury Collegians and Eliza Doolittle In My Fair Lady with Halifax All Souls.

Richard is studying drama at Huddersfield University and this is his first major role with an amateur society. He has appeared in several school productions and is also a member of the Stuart Stage School.

It’s something of a family affair for Richard as his great-grandfather, Brian Turner, was a member of the society for many years.

“It’s a nice coincidence that Richard’s first role in the amateur theatre should be with the society in which his great grandfather was closely connected,” said Ian Stephenson, from Spen Amateurs.

Carousel contains well loved songs including the haunting If I Loved You, the foot-stomping June is Bustin Out All Over and the iconic You’ll Never Walk Alone. It runs nightly from November 26-30 at the town hall in Cleckheaton, at 7.15pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.
