Other attractions include ukulele playing, a poetry workshop lead by John Irving Clarke, handbell ringers and a story-telling sessions by Dewsbury Library.

Many local arts groups will also be running interactive workshops.

Ronalda Johnstone, one of the organisers of the event, said: “The long term objective is to bring more arts and culture to Dewsbury by reviving the Dewsbury Town Hand Bell Team. We need to start by restoring two octaves of the bells and the cost would be in the order of £3,000.”

The festival gets under way from 10.30am.
