The Brythoniaid Male Voice Choir, which has performed songs with the Manic Street Preachers, Chic and, most recently, the Pet Shop Boys, will play in the town on Saturday September 20 thanks to Dewsbury’s own Jenny Brown, a long-time fan and one of the choir’s vice presidents.

Mrs Brown has supported the choir for many years and helped to secure concerts in the area, including performances in Horbury and Ossett as well as Dewsbury itself.

The choir recently honed its pop sensibilities by performing hits alongside big pop and rock acts at Festival No 6 in Portmeirion, Wales.

Mrs Brown said: “They have reinvented male vocal choirs through the variety of their work, but it will be mostly traditional at Dewsbury.”

She said the group were particularly fond of playing Dewsbury Town Hall because of its enthusiastic crowds and the acoustics there.

“They love coming to Dewsbury because the audiences are so superb, and because of the acoustics and the very specific sound of the piano in the town hall. They are a super gang of fellas.”
