City set for seventh KT’s Blues Festival

The most enduring band from the UK’s 1970s pub-rock scene will headline Wakefield Music Collective’s seventh annual rhythm and blues festival.

Dr Feelgood will perform at Warehouse23 on the opening night of the four-day event next month.

The gig on Thursday November 7 is part of a nationwide tour to promote the release of the band’s Get Rhythm: The Best of Dr Feelgood 1984–1987.

The 44-track album focuses on the third phase in the story of the band, including two the two Stiff Records albums Brilleaux and Classic.

Dr Feelgood have never left the road since their formation in 1971 and the band’s devotion to blues and R&B has attracted a devoted fan base.

Bassist Phil Mitchell and drummer Kevin Morris were recruited by the late Lee Brilleaux in 1983, with lead guitarist Steve Walwyn joining in 1989 and vocalist Robert Kane in 1999.

They have toured together in the UK and overseas for the past 14 years,

KT’s Blues Festival continues on Friday November 8 with a free performance by American country blues guitarist Shawn Jones at Fernandes Brewery Tap.

Free gigs will take place at the Orangery and the Grazier on Saturday November 9, and Trad Music and the Bull and Fairhouse on Sunday November 10.
