In fact, there’s only one band to have done so in the same year – Hayseed Dixie.

After starting out performing covers of AC/DC songs, the bluegrass group have made 15 themed albums and played more than 1,000 live shows in 31 countries.

Hailing from deep in the heart of the Appalachian mountains of East Tennessee, USA, Hayseed Dixie claim to have been completely isolated from outside cultural and musical influences.

The boys grew up playing the traditional music of their forefathers on banjo, fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar and acoustic bass. That is until they discovered legendary Australian rock band AC/DC – and started covering their songs on their traditional instruments, creating the “Rockgrass” genre in the process.

Most recently, Hayseed Dixie have been exploring stadium rock from the 1970s and 1980s, including Journey and Survivor.

Hair Down To My Grass is the newest release from Hayseed Dixie and was recorded in a mountain range some way from home – in a converted barn in Cumbria!
