Exhibition of patients’ creativity

ARTWORK by patients at Dewsbury and District Hospital will go on show to the public this weekend.

The exhibition will feature paintings and photographs showing the diversity of artistic activities enjoyed by patients visiting the palliative day support and therapy service at the Rosewood Centre.

The service, which works closely with Kirkwood Hospice, was set up to support people with life-limiting illnesses and their carers.

Creative artist Catherine Hill, who works with individual patients and groups, said: “The creative process is proving to be extremely beneficial for those with anxiety, breathlessness, low mood and low self-esteem. Patients at the centre are able to express their individual needs and concerns through their art and enjoy an interesting and stimulating experience.”

The exhibition is in the Upper Hall at Dewsbury Minster, Rishworth Road, Dewsbury, on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, 9am-3pm.
