Reight good band making waves on local music scene

Described as producing Northern Funk Rock, their original sounds are proving immensely popular amongst the local community.

The band started on a relatively small scale in early 2012, practising where and when they could, with just three members and one song.

The original members included Becky White (vocals and guitar), Little John (drums), and Phil Waite (bass guitar).

Quickly realising the band wanted more volume, the group grew to four members and Duncan Green (lead guitar) was introduced.

The band soon found themselves in a jam session with saxophonist Matt Thompson.

His rare talent, and unique sound, provided an excellent boost to the group, and he was soon enlisted as a permanent member.

Their ages range from mid 20s to late 30s.

Bass guitarist Phil Waite, 39, said: “The band prides itself on good, honest, northern values. We’re all local to the area.

“There isn’t really anyone else like us. We’ve all been in bands before, but we think our genre is quite unique”.

The group got their first gig, in a support slot, in February 2013.

“We didn’t even have a band name for our first gig,” said Phil. It just came to us and developed from our Yorkshire accents”.

The band currently has 10 official tracks and they are planning to write another six before their busy gig schedule from September.

They have been top of the charts on Cleckheaton Online Radio with their track Path, have played local summer festivals, and are next appearing live at Milo bar in Leeds on August 29.

The group then plans to release an album and begin performing on a much larger scale.
