Review: Dewsbury Arts Group presents Woman in Mind
Dewsbury Arts Group is no stranger to Alan Ayckbourn’s work, but Woman In Mind gave regular supporters a very different experience with its staging in the round.
The play invites us into the home and mind of unhappy housewife Susan, and the redesigned theatre gave the sense of peering in from over the garden fence.
The wonderful set designed by David Wood made it feel as though we were sitting right there in Susan’s garden and it was clear director Richard Brook and assistant director Craig Kelly had put a lot of thought into the staging.

Hide AdMaria Bailey was superb as Susan, delivering laughs alongside moving scenes as her fantasy world unravels.
She was in good company with a strong cast that relished the dark comedy, and I particularly enjoyed the performances of Malcolm Parkinson and Susan Saville.
An entertaining and memorable opening to the season.
