Final preparations are being made for this year’s Holmfirth Festival of Folk.

The town has had some kind of festival for around 30 years and organisers hope this year’s event will once more light up the town with live music, dancing and attractions.

Acts on at next weekend’s festival, May 8-10, include The Young ‘Uns, Roger Davies, Megson, The Sam Kelly Trio, Elbow Jane, Steve Tilston and Jez Lowe.

Headliners at the Holmfirth Picturedrome include the Hackney Colliery Band on Friday May 8, and Eddi Reader and Kate in the Kettle on Saturday May 9.

Members of the Hackney Colliery Band come from a range of different musical backgrounds and have worked with everyone from cutting edge jazz groups to the Royal Opera House.

Eddi Reader played with her group, Fairground Attraction, and has since had a successful solo career.
