Under the current roadmap back to “normality”, non-essential shops can re-open from April 12 and Sam Teale, 18, has produced a short film aimed at promoting Cleckheaton town centre.

Despite the challenges of not being able to open as usual, many local businesses in the town have worked hard through lockdown preparing to re-open with a bang.

They have taken this latest lockdown as an opportunity to work behind the scenes on their businesses, turning what is a difficult time into a positive move forward, many diversifying their offering to ensure they are Covid safe.

Sam, who runs Sam Teale Productions from an office in Cleckheaton, featured 12 businesses in the video.

The twelve businesses involved have had little choice but to adapt in response to all the lockdown restrictions seen over the past year.

While some essential outlets have been able to stay open throughout, some had to find new ways through click and collect, online or delivery services.

Stephanie Norris, of Joshua Adams menswear, who spearheaded the project, said: “Many of our town’s shops, bars and businesses have some exciting plans to bring to the community when they re-open.

“The support of local people is vital to our recovery and I think every single one of us cannot wait to be out and about and see the town bustling once again.”

Stephanie said she really enjoyed working with Sam and added: “He has been great. His energy is inspirational and he’s captured perfectly the diversity of the businesses in a light and lifting way.

“It’s very emotional and I cannot believe we managed to pull this whole project together in less than two weeks.”

Sam said: “Our video helps to visualise life in the town once the restrictions are lifted.

“Cleckheaton is ready to open and we are all so excited for this return to normality.

“It has been a testing time for businesses but we are nearly there, the town will soon be hustling and bustling with life. We’re really proud.”
