Conditions continue to strengthen

The latest research from Hometrack reveals that the housing market conditions continued to strengthen across the country in September.

Richard Donnell, director of research at the property business, said: “Growing confidence among buyers, continued growth in sales volumes and a drop in the number of homes for sale pushed house prices 0.5 per cent higher over the month.

“This is the strongest monthly increase in house prices since May 2007.” In Yorkshire, prices were static but house sales were up five per cent and sellers obtained an average 95 per cent of the asking price. The number of homes on the market fell by 1.3 per cent.

Hometrack said talk of a housing bubble is overdone.
