The Britain in Bloom competition is the largest and most prestigious community gardening contest in the UK.

The 70 competition finalists will showcase their gardening skills, community spirit and environmental efforts.

Each finalist will be visited by a pair of Royal Horticultural Society judges in August, who will examine every bulb and bush before crowning the champion town.

Co-organiser Christine Sykes, said: “The successes have made all the hard work worthwhile. We worked as a community to achieve this wonderful result and people who had been acquaintances are now friends. Bring on 2020.”
