There’s nothing like your local paper when you want to sell your home

New research has revealed the power of the press is second to none when it comes to buying and selling houses.

Market analysts SPA Future Thinking, whose customers include Sky and the BBC, found that 55 per cent of people went straight to their local paper when buying or selling a house.

In fact, they went to the paper even before consulting estate agent websites.

The research also found that over a third of those continued to read the paper after selling their home or moving into a new property.

Those who did not have a house to sell or were not in the market to buy still regularly consulted the property section of the paper.
