OUR recent story about a new sign at the miniature railway in Royds Park sent reader Doris Richards scurrying to her old family photo album.
Doris, of Whitechapel Road, knew she had one of her youngest son Mark there, taken in the 1970s and she thought other readers might be interested in seeing it.
“Mark is now 40, so this would have been taken sometime in the mid 1970s and I think it was to commemorate the opening of the railway’s cafe,” she said.
“Royds Park was a lovely little park. We would go with the children to the swimming baths, and afterwards we’d go across the road to the park. In those days it also had a little paddling pool which they loved.”
Doris has also dug out several more family photos, taken at Broomfield Methodist Church in Cleckheaton.
“I’ve kept all sorts of memorabilia from when the children were little, church services, baptism cards and such like,” she said.
“The children used to love taking part in the shows and Christmas plays.”
Doris and her late husband had five children, Dina, John, Eve, Margaret and Mark.
