The icy January conditions didn’t get the better of these brave lot in Cleckheaton.
A group of fun-loving adults decided to take advantage of the cold conditions back in 1940 to get their skates on and slide over Mann Dam – not without using each other for support, of course!
The winter of 1939-40 was the coldest for 45 years with a an average temperature of 1.5 celsius and contained one of the coldest months on record.
That January was recorded as the coldest month since 1895, with an average temperature of -1.4 degrees.
