Faces were smiling all round at the Dortmund Club New Year’s Eve dance at Batley Town Hall in 1964-1965.
But officials had something to frown about afterwards, when it was reported that the event had been a financial flop.
Though between 170 and 200 had turned out for the occasion more were expected and it was thought that people had opted for other attractions.
Music was provided by the Blue Stars dance band and the Blackjacks rhythm group.
Included in the picture above are councillors Mr and Mrs H Sheldon and headmaster of Batley Boys’ High School GC Locke.
