A FOOTBALL mad schoolboy will line up alongside his Elland Road heroes tomorrow night after being picked as a match-day mascot.

Edward Holmes, 12, will lead the teams out when Leeds United take on Southampton in front of the Sky Sports cameras, fulfilling every young fan’s dreams.

The West End Middle School pupil is also a junior member of the Spen Valley Whites Members’ Club and was chosen at random to be the mascot for the game.

A Mighty Whites fan all his life, Edward also plays for Norristhorpe Under-12s.

Before the game, Edward will be given a mini-tour of the stadium and have a sneak peek at the players’ dressing rooms, before the 5.20pm kick off.

Dad Jonathan said: “He is very excited because this will be Neil Warnock’s first home match in charge.

“It’s also almost 40 years to the day since the great Leeds side beat Southampton 7-0 with the famous Billy Bremner.”
