PUPILS in Hightown have been inspired by their local community in an art project - and they’re inviting people from the community to come and look at their finished work.
High Bank School in Windy Bank is throwing its doors open to the public on Thursday afternoon for an art exhibition, with work created during the recent art week.
Children from nursery right through to year six took part.
They toured the local area taking photographs and recording sounds, producing drawings and collages and enjoying workshops with artist Peter Swidrak from the Heart of Art organisation.
They also painted CDs which have been made into a work of art and suspended from the ceiling.
The art will be on display on Thursday from 1.30pm along with violin and recorder recitals and dance displays and refreshments will be served.
Afterwards the visitors and guests can look around the school, visit the classrooms and see the work the children produce.
There will also be a community art session taking place for everyone to join in.
