Santa will be in his grotto from 3pm and the Mayor of Kirklees Coun Ken Smith will arrive with Mayoress Coun Christine Smith at 5pm.

Headline act Jade Helliwell (pictured) will give a performance at 5.40pm, with the lights to be switched on at 6pm, followed by fireworks.

Preparations have been made by the dedicated members of the Batley Business Association, who were also responsible for the recent Halloween Trail and also put on the town’s Vintage Day.

Speaking in October, chairman Andrew Marsden said: “Very simply, the more successful events are in the town, the stronger foundation we’ve got to put on events in the future.”
